Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
  5. Beat in flour gradually
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts
  7. Drop onto ungreased baking sheets, optionally lined with parchment paper
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden-brown
  9. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; move to wire racks to cool completely
