Shortcake
Ingredients
- 2/3 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup butter (half stick)
- 1 large egg, room temp
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup whole milk
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
- Combine dry ingredients in a seperate bowl and whisk to combine.
- Gradually add dry ingredients and milk to creamed mixture, alternating between dry ingredients and milk.
- Grease a 8x8 or 9x9 square baking pan. Spread batter evenly and bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Top with whipped cream and strawberries. Enjoy!
